OK, this is my last entry on Pitas. I'm a horrible person moving over to LJ.
Why? Because so many other peopleses are there, and it's easier to comment. That, and LJ has a nifty client thing that lets you easily post instead of logging in. And I lessthanthree that.
Pitas, it's been great knowing you.

Well, I managed to beat FF7 finally, after waiting something like 3 months before playing the Northern Crater. Note to self: level up characters! I discovered the joys of levelling. It's happy.
Dagorhir is the website for the stuff I mentioned below. 'Tis good and nifty and stuff. Yah.

Wow.
I've just seen Return of the King and all I can say is: Wow.
It makes up by far for the deviations that came up so much in The Two Towers . It's got a wonderful battle scene (not quite as vast, or as long, as Helm's Deep, but just as, if not more, effective). It's got undead legions (fun!) that look quite impressive, it's got Shelob (Who looks frickin' scary! But I hate spiders anyway), and it's got enough of the details that made the book so wonderful.
On the other hand, they did leave out the Scouring of the Shire, which isn't an entirely bad thing, as Frodo acts quite wimpy there ("No! Don't hurt the humans! Don't hurt anybody! Let's all be friends! No more fighting!" Shaddup, twerp.) On the other hand, they made Denethor (sp?) look like a complete jerk (slobbering all over his food while Pippin stands by hungrily, hissing out "For disloyalty...venegance" or the like, not seeming to have any power beyond his use of his palantir, which doesn't even get shown, and twisting his revocation of Pippin's service). This is more than somewhat annoying; I didn't quite like Denethor, but he was portrayed in the books as, at least, an honorable and just man, if not entirely too bright. In the movie, he's portrayed as an idiotic asinine slob who has no redeeming characteristics. This was a disappointment second only to the dork who played Haldir in The Two Towers.
However, the cuts/misrepresentations don't take away from the magnificence of some of the scenes. Heck, this was the first movie I've seen to almost bring tears to my eyes (when the Rohirrim are about to charge into the rear of the Mordor army). I'm not sure exactly why this scene almost provoked tears, but for some reason it was incredibly and amazingly powerful and moving.
Bah, I ramble. Go see the film!
I guess "Wow" wasn't the only thing I could say after all...
Side note to all who play in my home AD&D campaign...large GameDay/GameNight/GameTheNextDay planned after exams. Email me at or just comment here. Da?
